For instance, our leathers are dyed in small batches using all-natural ingredients like tree bark and indigo. We also rely on hands-on processes like hand-lasting and hand-stitching to give our shoes unmatched comfort and flexibility.
Even our shoe boxes and tissue paper are made in America from 100% recycled paper. From the sourcing of premium leathers to the polishing of finished shoes, we focus on quality craftsmanship throughout the shoemaking process. In keeping with our heritage, Trask remains dedicated to domestic manufacturing. Our company headquarters and shoemaking factory are both located in Lewiston, Idaho. This rural town has a long tradition of handcrafting footwear dating back to the early 1900s.
By preserving these generations-old techniques, our American artisans continue to breathe new life into classic shoemaking. Their expert skills range from cutting and stitching to lasting and shoe bottoming. Each brings an artistic passion that makes Trask shoes special.
Producing locally enables us to oversee quality and sustainability firsthand. We use water-based adhesives to assemble shoe components, avoiding harsh solvents. Our factory also runs on 100% renewable energy. Both our domestic manufacturing and use of eco-friendly processes minimize our environmental impact.
We further reduce waste by utilizing full grain leathers which maximize each hide. Any leather remnants are repurposed for small leather goods. At our on-site repair shop, our master cobblers also refurbish and resole customers’ well-loved shoes. This helps cut down on materials sent to landfills.
